Combatting Static Radiophone Problem
The article explains static interference in early radio reception. A receiving current of one microamp causes loud crackling from atmospheric electricity. To combat static, a high pitched whistle around 500 cycles is used, which the operator hears as dots and dashes. The quench gap helps quench the spark and stops energy transfer to the secondary circuit.
Tufts Radiophone Lectures Expand to Women Courses
Tufts College will begin a new radiophone course for women featuring economics and domestic science topics. Lectures run about 15 minutes with sessions in afternoon and evening to maximize attendance, aiming to reach over 500000 listeners through Amrad station broadcasts.
