British infantry cavalry artillery and whippet tanks launched the first offensive on the Ulster border today driving Sinn Fein forces from Pettigee, a town straddling the line. The action marks a bold use of combined arms on Ulster soil with reports of smoke and fire in the town as troops advanced.
June 4 report states Boris Bakhmeteff will no longer have his credentials recognized by the United States after June. The State Department acted after criticism in Congress and his offer to retire. Worcester June 4 Local and State officers raided a cockfight pit a mile from Spencer center capturing 28 men and 20 live fighters. Fifty game birds were at the pitside. 27 escaped during the melee.
Police shut down a noon cockfight in Spencer after a raid uncovered moonshine and food supplies. Two suspects fled while two cocks died in the ring. another died soon after from a near severed head. Valued at 2000 to 5000 dollars, the birds, priced 100 to 500 each, were seized along with iron spars and fighting gear. Police guarded the seized stock overnight.
June 4 The steamer Villa Franca sank off Hohenau Paraguay after an explosion. It is believed 80 persons perished, according to a dispatch to La Nacion.

In Winsted Connecticut on June 4 Arthur Holmes tried to clear the road with his car horn, which sounded like quacking ducks. A flock of ducks near a farm house responded to the noise and blocked the highway, delaying Holmes after his trip from Copake New York.
