Aspinwall Automatic Exchange Nears Start Date

New England Telephone Go announces Aspinwall, the first automatic exchange, will go live on November 4 serving part of the Brook line area. The next telephone directory will detail operations and subscriber instrument changes with personal instruction for each number. Calls to the new exchange will still route through the operator for the Aspinwall number.

George J. Brown aged 25 of 127 Maverick Street Chelsea was arrested for drunkenness after a riot on a Jamaica Plain street car near the Dudley Street terminal. Brown and friends allegedly fought with fists and feet until conductor Alman Woodward subdued Brown with a switch stick splitting his head. Woodward could not explain the initial cause beyond Brown and companions starting a rough-house.
