A blaze at Max Bayard’s 500 Broadway dry goods store gutted the building and damaged stock estimated at 2500 with total loss around 3000. Firemen contained flames after a third alarm while three other fires in nearby Cedar Street and Warwick Street were reported earlier.

A group described as I. W. W. barbers caused a disturbance at Tony Sousa’s barber shop at 20 Elm Street. They entered, urged workers to strike, then threw stones, smashing windows and scattering glass onto customers. Police arrived. suspects fled toward Hanover Street. I. W. W. Steers Break From Brighton Abattoir Pen

About 30 steers escaped the pen at the Brighton Abattoir last night at 10 10. One steer squeezed through an unlocked gate and charged through Brighton streets as crowds pursued it. Attendants and the watchman rounded up the herd, leaving only one steer unreturned to the locked pen. The cattle belonged to Leckins Brothers, a major Brighton Jewish cattle dealer.
