Three inmates of Pierce Farm escaped guards yesterday morning. They seized a revolver and knife, entered a house demanding food at gunpoint, then fled toward the Back Bay Fens. Dozens of police and mounted squads scoured the area and surrounded the park, but as of early morning no recapture had occurred.
Tremendous damage followed an electrical storm and cloudburst in St Johnsbury Vermont. The Maine Central railroad cannot enter the town for days due to washouts along the lines. In places washouts stretch 80 feet long and several feet deep with extensive damage to bridges and dams.
Wallace A. Van Syckel, the youngest son of Mr and Mrs John C Van Syckel of Brookline died yesterday at Good Samaritan Hospital Lebanon Penn. He passed away alongside his new bride who had entered quarantine to wed him.
James T. Moriarty, president of the Central Labor Union, said he was almost forced to leave the State House when he visited the executive chamber with a building trades committee from the A F L. They obtained the Senate document appointing a labor and industrial board, sent it to the Governor, and waited outside the Governor's office.

Mrs C S Rumsey reports jewels valued at $75,000 stolen from her home at Narra Bansett Pier and police seek leads in this city.
Police and detectives search Boston and New York for traces of 75000 dollars in jewels stolen last Saturday from the Narragansett Pier home of Charles C Rumsey. The stolen pieces belonged to Mrs Mary Harriman Rumsey and included a pearl rope valued at 50000 dollars, a wedding gift from her mother.
After three days no trace of the robbery has been found, with investigators continuing to pursue leads and review surveillance as the case moves to further inquiry.
The fugitives include Thomas T. O'Donnell of Willaston 5 Grant street Patrick S. Barry of Charlestown 23 Austin street and John Kearns 574 Dorchester avenue South Boston. Kearns is armed and Barry seen with a butcher knife as officers spread out across Boston and nearby towns.
Mrs. Charles F. S Bartick wife of Patrolman Bartick and Miss Dora White suffered serious injuries when a Lynn Swampscott car sideswiped a small Revere Beach car near the old Fitchburg depot on Causeway street. Several others were shaken and treated for nervous shock.
