At Crescent Park in Providence 10 000 spectators watched hydro aeroplane flyer Jack McGee and a Pawtucket passenger dive 75 feet into Narragansett Bay after a propulsion chain parted. Both survived thanks to a passing speed boat.

Wright type aircraft crash at park injures McGee and passenger

McGee piloting a Wright type craft with a passenger left the hangar at 6 25 and after a 30 mile per hour wind drop to 15 began carrying riders. At 75 feet the plane tipped and engine stopped and both men drowned briefly but were saved by a life line and rescued. The craft sustained unknown damage. This marks McGee’s second accident at the park this year after a prior crash damaged the wings and canvas.

Four Boys Rescued From Charles River After Canoe Capsize

Metropolitan police on Riverside patrol saved four young canoeists when their boat capsized in the Charles River near Forest Grove and Weston Bridge. Sergeant Chaisson and Officer McIsaacs rescued two near Fox Island after 5 pm, while Patrolman McNally and Thomas Hogan saved two others around 7 pm.
