Frank G. Etsell ten year old son of Mr and Mrs George Etsell of 12 Green street Everett drowned yesterday afternoon after stepping into a mudhole while swimming with about a dozen companions in the Malden River. Joseph Wehner last year Everett High football player made a vain rescue attempt.

Brockton July 25 Charley Sing a Chinese laundryman was arrested by United States Inspectors Sleep and McKenna for illegal opium manufacture. Officers seized gum opium pills finished product and solution valued about 1000 dollars. Sing to be arraigned in U S District Court Monday held on 500 dollar bail.

After a 1500 mile pursuit from Atlanta to Boston, John D. Mattsford aged 50 was arrested by Boston police on charges of acting as a party to the kidnapping of John A. Barwick's children, a five year old son and nine year old daughter, linked to the Exposition Cotton Mills head.
Mrs Bertha Barwick and her mother Mrs Laurie Jeter of Atlanta, along with two children John and Dorothy, have disappeared from Boston. Mattiford, linked to the alleged plot, was arrested on Columbus Avenue and held on $1000 bond as authorities pursue the missing women.

An infuriated buck deer charged an automobile party on the road between Ellsworth and Orland Maine. The group included Mr and Mrs Johnson Chester of Boston Mr and Mrs John H Stone of White Plains New York Ernest Gallatin of East Orange New Jersey and Miss Margaret Taylor of New York City.
A party from Bar Harbor encountered a buck on a forest road in Orland. The deer slammed a car light and radiator, then dashed along the road for four miles before leaping a six-foot ditch and five-rail fence, landing on a hayrake and vanishing into the woods.

Ten people escaped serious injuries after two touring cars collided head on on Castle road known as death curve just after 10 PM Both cars were wrecked and no serious injuries reported.
Mrs. Walter F. Medding of 206 Ferry street Malden and her maid Miss Elizabeth Jacks sustained facial injuries and shock in a collision. Medding was cut by glass and thrown from the car while five youths in the other vehicle escaped with minor cuts. Passengers were treated at Lynn physicians and discharged. The other car, owned by G and H Starr, left the scene after aiding the injured.
In the American section Boston defeated Chicago 7 to 5 and Philadelphia beat Detroit 4 to 0, with Cleveland 3 New York 2 over 13 innings. St Louis tied Washington 8 in 15 innings as darkness halted play. In the National Pittsburg routed Philadelphia 12 to 2. New England games saw Lawrence 5 Brockton 3 Lynn 5 Lowell Portland 8 New Bedford 7 Worcester 4 Fall River 3.
