Sharp market survey with mixed results on Sugar and GE
A detailed market note shows vigorous moves in Sugar and General Electric with gains followed by declines. The overall close was firm but with losses in industrials. Rumors of a Boston house in danger circulated briefly, while foreign buying and possible American stock repurchase plans hint at a looming price rally.

British schooner Ocean Lily cited for no bill of health
William Watts, captain of the Ocean Lily, appeared before the U S District Court after the vessel and two other British schooners and a brigantine arrived at Boston without required bills of health under the maritime quarantine act of February 15 1893. Boston custom officials refused entry. Collector Beard notified Washington and the case was referred to the U S District Attorney. Watts posted 5000 bond for his next appearance and the Ocean Lily was released. The other vessels await Treasury guidance.
