Reports from Pikeville Kentucky describe a violent clash in Wise county Virginia after authorities sought the Flemons brothers for a triple murder. Four soldiers died and six were mortally wounded in the firefight. Oliver Flemons was shot and dying.
Ransom L Shores Jr of Preston comes to police and confesses to killing a man after a dispute near a water spring. The unidentified victim, a 20 to 35 year old farmer, lies in the Henry Allen & Sons dead house awaiting autopsy. Shores is in custody after being detained at Laurel Hill.
