Man Surrenders in Philadelphia With Stolen Funds
Alexander Woods of East St. Louis turned himself in to Philadelphia police claiming conscience drove him to confess. He delivered more than 4000 dollars including money orders and nearly 200 dollars in cash stolen from American Express Company in East St. Louis, saying he wanted his two daughters to know he had made amends. He said a note he indorsed that failed to pay led to his distress. Woods is held for instruction by Illinois authorities.
