Boston wife killer arrested on Santa Fe train
John Schidlosska, sought for the murder of a Boston wife, was arrested on Santa Fe train No. 1 at La Junta Colorado. He fled from the train but was shot at by Sheriff Barr, captured after a sprint, and confessed his crime. Conductor M Kiser of Los Angeles aided the arrest by identifying the suspect from a reserved berth description and handing the ticket to the sheriff.

General W. W. Blackmar commander in chief of the Grand Army of the Republic died in Boise Idaho from nephritis. He arrived July 10 for an inspection tour of northwest posts and grew ill during the visit. His wife was at his side and the body will be embalmed for return to Boston.
