Boy survives 30 foot fall from third story window

A two year old boy fell 30 feet from a third floor window at 5 Salem Street in Medford to brick pavement. He clung to ledge briefly then released. Passersby shouted to him as he slid down. He was thought seriously hurt but after physician care he slept without apparent injuries.

Wild steer stampede disrupts Bermuda streets

The British freighter Lord Ormonde arrived after a 70 mile voyage from South American ports and a stampede of 200 Argentine steers landed at Bermuda. One steer jumped overboard, others battered fences and dashed through crowds. One animal was shot and the overboard steer was rescued after nearly an hour.

Strike in Fall River Lays Off 500 Hands

Fall River plant of the American Printing Company closed as firemen struck for higher wages and changed conditions. About 400 to 500 workers were laid off while the dispute centers on a two cent raise and full day pay for shorter Saturday and Sunday shifts.

Worcester man electrocuted at water works

July 4 Worcester Frank Keating 24 employed by the Worcester Electric Light Company was electrocuted in the basement of the city water works after stepping on a live wire. He was hurled against a transformer and about 2300 volts passed through his body causing practically instantaneous death. Police seek a brother reported to be an express driver between Boston and Brookline.

Worcester Man Drowns in Salisbury Pond

Worcester July 14 James Powers 40 of 213 Grove street drowned while bathing in Salisbury Pond. He waded beyond his depth and cried for help as he went down. Ralph Ward Hugh Dolan and Daniel Flynn on the pond bank swam to the scene and recovered the body, but Powers was dead.

Docks Tragedy: Man Drowns After Slipping at East Boston Pier

Bernard M. Carrigan aged 22 of 76 Everett Street fell between a steamer and a pier at Pier 4 Leyland line docks East Boston yesterday. He drowned and his body was recovered.
