President Wilson brokers agreement with railroad labor leaders and executives after talks with congressional leaders. Armistice declared following a conference outlining terms.
Martin M. Mulhall a National Association of Manufacturers agent and lobbyist testifies for six hours to the Senate lobby investigating committee. He identifies nearly 600 letters and memoranda while recalling names of lawmakers labor leaders and staffers. An accord ends Senate House tensions as Mulhall's correspondence is entered into the record and shared with Garrett committee members.
President Wilson and congressional leaders secure an arbitration agreement with Eastern railroad conductors and trainmen and railroad management. An armistice holds until Wednesday night as the two sides submit to a mediation board under the Newlands Clayton Act. The move averts a threatened East Coast rail strike and shapes the board’s permanent role in rail disputes.
Louis F. Post assistant secretary of labor came from Washington to the city to help settle the strike of workers at Governor Foss factories in Hyde Park after meetings with Governor Foss and union leaders. He said last night that after yesterday’s talks differences may be adjusted to satisfy both sides.
Mr. Post says both sides show willingness to be fair but to learn all viewpoints. He will hold a conference with labor union officials this evening and likely meet Governor Foss tomorrow. He met international strikers’ officers after arriving from New York and consulted Mayor Fitzgerald on courtesy to the State Board of Conciliation and Arbitration.

Mrs Georgianna Riopelle wife of Dr A J Riopelle prominent physician disappeared from her home a few hours before her daughter Agnes Helena Riopelle was to wed Adelard G Valcourt of 105 Tremont Street. Riopelles health described as poor and husband sought to calm her as she spoke of departure.
Mrs Riopelle vanished after a night of restlessness as her husband Dr Riopelle prepared for a wedding in Methuen. A mass was held at 9 for the couple, while searchers comb the Glen Forest area near Merrimack River. The missing 48 year old, described as five foot five and 175 pounds, left a note claiming she would not return.
The performance drew remark from lawyers who stayed through a long day, intently observing every moment as sessions continued.
