Thrown Out of Auto but Baby Saved in Hill Crash

Mrs Emma Urban of New York suffered three broken ribs and a fractured arm when an automobile driven by William J Smiley of West Acton went over a stone wall while descending a hill. The baby between them was saved uninjured. Smiley and Mrs Urban’s son were also hurt.

No Strike of Men Expected in Boston Area

Rescue at Revere Beach Highlights Summer Surf Risks

Mrs. Rose Meyer of 18 Nahant Avenue Revere Beach was saved from the surf by Bernard Kershaw and George Sheldon of Corps 35 Volunteer Life Saving Corps after cramps left her 100 feet from shore. Several bathers aided but crowding hampered rescue. Five people were treated for cuts at the life saving station and the state bath house reported 6812 bathers with 2060 women. The most serious injury was William Murray whose foot was nearly severed by a bottle and taken to Frost Hospital Chelsea. The beach crowd reached about 125000 with 16000 bathers the prior week.

Woman Found After Days in Forest Near Middleboro

Mrs Mary Sherwin wife of George Sherwin was found in a semi conscious state by Elisha Cudworth after days missing in a forest near Middleboro. Dr G A Shurtleff of South Middleboro treated her and she recovered.

Mrs Sherwin Found After Three Days Missing In Woods

Mrs. Sherwin disappeared Thursday morning from her Spruce street home and wandered the woods for three days and nights. A search with 200 volunteers recovered her in the woods near Rochester, and she is resting at home in critical condition, thought to be suffering from a mental ailment worsened by heat.

Moses Perry aged 89 disappeared from 757 Tremont Street and was found in front of 16 Dover Street about 8 pm in a weakened, barely conscious condition after not eating since leaving home. Patrolman Cos grove of East Dedham Street station located him and provided aid.

Bathgoer says he was robbed at Head House beach

Samuel J. Breslin of Somerville says he placed real money in an envelope at the Head House bathhouse in City Point South Boston. He returned to find the envelope replaced with white slips and a small stone, losing 440 dollars. Police investigated but made no arrest. The Head House lessee says the checking system makes theft unlikely.

Brave Grandfather Saves Grandson From Car Collision

Thomas W. Stephenson, 58, shielded his grandson Channing Hilliard, 4, by tossing him to safety as a large automobile struck him while he was alighting from an outbound electric car at Water Street corner in Arlington. Stephenson was struck by the mud-guard and killed, the boy escaped unharmed.

Nashua street driver causes collision with Arlington boy

The Nashua street man Harry J. McAllester tried to outrun an electric car and struck Stephenson and his grandson Channing Hilliard of Arlington. Stephenson threw the boy clear then absorbed the impact, suffering bruises and cuts while the lad escaped with scrapes. McAllester was detained at the station before being released on his own recognizance.

Denver Society Mama Adopts Pet Pig For Bedtime Comfort

Mrs. Whitney Newton, Denver society woman, adopts a pet pig named Robert Newton brings home. The maid covers and quiets the pig, then Mrs Newton places the animal on a linen bed with blue embroidered linen and a pillow. The pig sleeps beside her every night and eats from a silver spoon.
