Nine wooden three deckers were gutted and a dozen more damaged by a fire in Dorchester on Josephine and Leroy streets. Fire officials say flames started around 5 30 p m possibly from children playing with fire crackers. Damage is estimated at 35000 dollars and residents faced exposure as winds shifted toward Geneva Avenue.
Bystanders say engines struggled for about a quarter hour to gain pressure at the scene. The first pump could deliver only a six foot flow during the initial 15 minutes as fire crews responded to the blaze.
Nearly 50 000 Boston children celebrated a safe and sane Fourth of July as the general celebration committee led by Mayor Fitzgerald oversaw the events without incident. Continued on Page 6-6th Column.
A 12 year old, Frank W. Richardson, aimed a .32 calibre revolver at Harry Blanch in East Boston yesterday while allegedly joking. The pistol reportedly was not loaded. The incident led to a continuation on Page 2-3d Column.

A touring party from Dedham was returning from Germantown when a tire blew out on Bussey street causing the car owned by Alexander Doyle to capsize. George Daley and John Delaney died. Walter Green Daniel Mahoney John O Connell and Charles Parker were injured or dying.
