Investigation Links Staples To Structural Accident
In a report to Commissioner Everett the team concluded the 2 inch iron staples of one-eighth inch wire, placed on opposite sides of channel iron and driven into 2x6 spruce, caused the failure as they were too short. The diamond mesh held to channel iron but the accident is attributed to staple failure. The telephone company investigates, with results likely in a month. Brockton builder F S Jackson said the structure, erected in 1905, was mostly completed by their firm.
