Husband in Prison Wife Gets Divorce

A Massachusetts court granted a divorce to Winnifred Db. Cooke citing her husband's five-year prison term for larceny of 21,000 dollars from Milford Cooperative Bank. The couple wed January 1, 1993 at Roxbury. Walter V. Cooke, the libellee, reportedly earned 400 dollars annually though attorneys claimed 10,000. The husband allegedly confessed to the theft upon return from his honeymoon and later attempted self harm. Divorce granted with right to resume maiden name amid testimony from friends of the libellant and others in related cases.
