Masters Report on Reading Railroad Mortgage Lien Priority
Masters Pollock and Dallas report in the United States Circuit Court on priority of lien among Reading Railroad general mortgage bonds and related scrip. They find the $5,000,000 7 percent bonds issued in 1876 entitled to participate in the general mortgage security and that the income mortgage trustee cannot invoke sinking fund provisions. Scrip remains pledged to floating debt, with value depending on debt repayment, and purchase before final maturity did not constitute overissue. Earnings figures show November 1886 gains and 1888 twelve month comparisons with changes in gross, expenses, and net earnings.
