Sleighing capes leather jackets overcoats ulsters cardigans and tobOGgan suits are on sale. Trousers cut to order from remnants priced at 4.86 a pair.
Caycorp N H January 9 The unknown man killed in the Boston and Albany wreck near West Springfield Mass is identified as John Jenkins a young stonecutter of Caycorp His wife sent for confirmation after Mrs Jenkins recognized the hat and coat The remains were burned beyond recognition and a hat coat and undershirt fragment were recovered The body is en route to Caycorp for burial.
Worcester boot factory workers rejected manufacturers prices at a January meeting and will press the December list as their demand. No conference talks have been requested by either side yet.
Norwich Conn January 5 A board of trade was formed in this city Saturday to foster business interests. The Hon Hugh H Osgood is president. Membership includes leading merchants financiers manufacturers and professional men.
For 24 hours starting 7 am Monday January 10 Maine will see cold with northerly winds turning warmer from the south and snow. Rest of New England and eastern New York face northeasterly winds then colder westerly winds with snow.

On January 9 the ninth anniversary of King Victor Emanuel’s death, King Humbert and the Queen visited the Pantheon and unveiled the bronze tomb planned for the late king’s remains. Wreaths and floral offerings were placed at the tomb entrance by many, including English residents in Rome.

Hartford fire at G O Sawyers Co dry goods store gutted three stores in a row. Clerk Thomas Laughton found suffocated behind iron bars after attempting to escape. Total losses quoted around $140000 with heavy insurance coverage. Wife of Laughton reportedly driven to madness by grief. Fire reported January 9 with multiple other blazes listed in Hartford and surrounding towns.
In Waltham on January 9 a fire gutted the John T. Bagley residence on Winter street after 11 PM. Firefighters faced zero temperatures and deep snow delaying water access. eight thousand dollars of building loss and one thousand of contents were insured. Three firefighters narrowly escaped when roof collapse forced escape, with the barn and livestock saved by snow.
A series of small fires were reported overnight and into the weekend. An early morning wreck near Lenape station on the Washington & Northern Railroad killed conductor Henry Humbert and passenger William B. Martin, who were asleep in the caboose. The New York World reports a rumored marriage between Lowell Mason, brother of actor John B. Mason, and Miss Gur ney, daughter of Silas Gurney of Tremont House fame, but authorities deny the claim.
Private Chicago despatches say ex secretary Lincoln's friends push for his Senate bid to follow General Logan. General Drum notes Lincoln would not accept a unanimous election and prefers business duties with Isham away in Europe. Lincoln valued wealth and youth over immediate honors.
