Enlarging the State House Plans Reported by Governor and Council
The Massachusetts Governor and council recommend to the General Court enlarging the State House by a rear addition. They seek to take Mt. Vernon street parcels and close the street and to secure surrounding estates for extending Hancock street to Beacon street. Buildings on affected tracts would be removed when appropriate for Commonwealth use. The Governor is to communicate these recommendations to the Legislature with supporting reasons.
