Aviators Accident Drowns Mechanic in Sea Flight
In Fecamp France on January 3 a hydro aeroplane failed during an oversea flight. Jacques LeVasseur and his mechanic Mallot fell into the sea. Mallot drowned. LeVasseur was rescued. The cause of the collapse is as yet unknown.

The parcel post service has swamped the New York post office. Postmaster Morgan today assigned 75 extra clerks to aid in handling packages. On the first day 30,614 parcels were mailed in New York City, with the second day expected to surpass this record.

Washington January 3. The Clapp committee investigating campaign funds heard more Standard Oil letters addressed to Congress members. All had appeared previously in a magazine or been published. Hearst, who testified earlier, supplied the letters for the record, and after their reading the committee met in executive session. Chairman Clapp said no further hearings could be announced at present, but would reconvene at his call.
