William Rockefeller to surrender Jan 13 before Pujo committee

An expert could perhaps tell from the heart and arteries or from examination of the brain, but the examination would have to be made immediately. Children’s death laid at her door

In St Albans Vermont on January 3 Mrs Julius Wells was arrested at her Swanton home on a charge of dealing out poison with intent to kill in connection with the death of two of her children. She was taken to Franklin county jail and will have a hearing later.

Poison link probed in Milton deaths and inquest

Mrs Wells and her four children fell ill after possible contact with poison kept in the house to kill rats. Lewis aged 6 died next day and Mary aged 4 died on December 4. The bodies of the two children were exhumed for examination by chemists from the State laboratory. A stomach sample and condensed milk from the Wells home were analyzed. An inquest was held at Swanton and Mrs Wells was arrested before its conclusion.

Severe Atlantic coast storm inflicts damage and injuries

A violent storm sweeping the Atlantic coast caused widespread property damage and injuries from Boston to Bristol Rhode Island and across the region. Reports include drownings near Wilmington Delaware, factory collapses in Patpdelene, cottages washed out to sea, unroofed houses in Newport News, and wires down from New York to Chicago and Boston.
