Roxbury Latin Meet Delivers Close Inter scholastic Races

The Roxbury Latin School hosted a large interscholastic track meet in Boston with many races open to novices. Harvard stars like Charlie Daly and Gould, plus rivals from Andover and Brockton, battled for top marks in sprints jumps and hurdles amid a capacity crowd and notable watchers including Governor Wolcott.

Newton High Indoor Meet Lights Up School Hall

Newton High School hosted a six hundred strong crowd for its annual indoor winter games. Brookline High led the pivotal team race but fell to Newton High by a margin of inches. Harvard entrants Morse Reed Ferguson posted marks in high jump while Rotch came closest to a 6 foot 13 4 inch try. M T Weinstein of Harvard notched two opens wins in sprints. Numerous trial heats and finals defined the day with several students from the H A A and class years contesting events and posting times.

Milton Academy Athletic Day Highlights and Records

Milton Academy held its annual athletic games in the gymnasium. A. G. Rotch equalled the fence vault record at 6 feet 1 inch. The day featured boxing and wrestling bouts judged by Principal Apthorp, plus an innovative obstacle relay with tasks like potato spoon race and apple bobbing. Day School won the team race, with detailed results listing winners in sprint, rope climb, fence vault, high jump, and wrestling bouts along with officials and judges.

Indoor meeting set for March 18 by B A A in Mechanics Building

John Graham athletic manager announces the B A A sponsored annual indoor meet for New England schools to be held March 18 in Mechanics Building. Participants must be under 21, with a three entrant limit per event and two entries for the 1000 yard and mile. Firsts earn five points, seconds three, thirds one. A solid silver shield awaits the winning school, awarded for nine years and then to the school with the most wins. Entry fee 50 cents per event. Events listed include sprints, distance runs, jumps, and throws with special team races to be announced later.
