Gideon F B Harris aged 55 attempted self harm at his residence 16 Whitfield Street yesterday afternoon by cutting his throat with a razor. He missed major vessels. Dr. Marr treated and sewed seventeen stitches in his throat.

After twenty one and a half hours of deliberation the jury convicts John H. Chance of murder in the second degree while Arthur Hagan is found not guilty. Chance faces imprisonment with an unexpired sentence and a life term looms for related charges. The verdict is announced as the courtroom erupts and both defendants appear exhausted after a sleepless night.
