Roosevelt to Lead Africa Expedition in 1909
President Theodore Roosevelt 59 plans a two year trip abroad after leaving office with half in Africa as a faunal naturalist under the British flag and half in Europe visiting major capitals. Market Review and Outlook Amid Steel Trade Turmoil
The week opens with Erie bond approval boosting markets before a steep steel and iron price decline as major producers race to set open prices. Analysts warn of wage cuts and tariff shifts, with railroads delaying purchases yet benefiting from equipment savings. Despite bearish sentiment, money remains easy and investment demand holds, signaling cautious optimism on a broader recovery.
