Eugene Tompkins longtime manager of the Boston Theatre died at his home 325 Commonwealth Avenue at 9 45 P M after two years illness born September 28 1850 in Boston. He rose from business to help his father Dr Orlando Tompkins manage the Boston Theatre and built a national reputation after arranging rights to Exiles by Sardou in 1877 and later producing Andre Fortier. He expanded to the Academy of Music New York and leased the Fifth Avenue Theatre before handing over Boston Theatres in 1890s.
