New York Lawmakers Move to Overturn Prohibition Ratification
Assemblyman Peter P. McElligott and Senator Jamies J. Walker will introduce a resolution in Albany to rescind New York’s ratification of the federal prohibition amendment and to refuse ratification. They argue the move curtails personal liberty and could trigger economic disruption and strikes amid returning veterans. The measure cites a 1912 precedent and seeks moral influence to repeal or non enforcement.
