The British steamer Strathnevis endured eighteen days of terrible gales on the voyage from Teteriffe to Boston. Docked at Hoosac pier in Charlestown, the vessel is weather beaten and missing two blades from its propeller wheel after encountering submerged wreckage about 1000 miles from Boston and again near Boston Harbor. Captain R. Smith called it the worst gale he had ever faced.

No Fear of Coal Famine in Boston Port Record
More than 60 000 tons of coal were received into the city by barges yesterday, a port record.
