Malden announces candidate Ella G Willcox a Malden college woman pledges to investigate immigrant assimilation and teacher pay. She says underfunded teachers drive away top staff and she will address these issues if elected. Support comes from suffragists and Malden women clubs.

Rosani Di Donato, Italian employee of Lead Lined Iron Pipe Company in Wakefield, died at home from burns suffered last Friday when a cigarette lighter sparked gasoline at the plant. He lit a cigarette and disposed of the match, igniting flammable liquid and causing severe burns.
Governor Hughes ordered the removal from office of John F. Ahearn, president of the Borough of Manhattan, New York City, on charges of neglect and misconduct filed by the City Club of New York.

Joseph Merlo 29, an Italian, arraigned in Municipal Criminal Court on charges of trying to burn a stable at 89 Warrenton Street occupied by Charles Duplaine. Court continued case for one week with Merlo held on $1500 bond amid claims of an earlier robbery by two men who took $40 and a watch.
Two Waltham youths, Thomas Silver aged 12 and Joseph Malone aged 11, escaped from Lyman School in Westboro and walked home. They were returned to the institution yesterday morning by the police after a reception at the station.
The Massachusetts fishing schooner Fame, which halted at Shelburne with a smallpox case, arrived at Halifax and anchored at the quarantine wharf. The ill sailor was moved to the quarantine hospital and the case described as mild.

Frederick L. Huntress demonstrated a method for slapping a woman in court as he faced assault and battery charges from Mrs. Mary J. Carson. Carson said Huntress rented her a house and slapped her face eight times over a heating dispute, leaving her ill for nine days. Huntress testified she used improper language and admitted the act. He was fined $15.
David F. Walker, president of the California Safe Deposit and Trust Company, was arrested in Santa Barbara after being found speeding on a Southern Pacific train while headed home to San Mateo. Assistant District Attorney Francis J. Heny ordered the arrest.
Arthur Bowers 27 of Somerville and Arthur Holmberg 28 of Cambridge were arrested on theft charges linked to a department store and Thomas Wood & Co. in a separate case. James Daw 52 of East Boston fell from a staging at McKie's wharf suffering internal injuries and a back strain. Joseph Christine 38 of Auburn Street sustained a skull fracture after a fall at a City Hospital construction site.
Patrick Cook and two South Boston boys face breaking and entering charges for a grocery store burglary. Cook was held on a $500 bond as the case develops alongside Virgilio Silva who was shot by Officer Scott and is in critical condition at City Hospital.
Police say Emma Huntley of 19 Cross street East Somerville killed her grandsons Raymond Shomo six and Caroline Shomo four by gas and drowned them in a bathtub. She allegedly acted after learning the children would be placed in custody of her husband’s brother Charles Huntley who owns a lodging house on Somerset street.
Mrs Huntley, wife of Frank M Huntley of Boston, faced a Somerville police court arraignment over the death of one child while a plan to move the two adopted children to a boarding house in Somerset Street was delayed. The mother had previously killed herself in New York after the girl’s birth. the father, a New York detective, died weeks earlier of appendicitis.
Mrs. Huntley admitted using gas to render her children unconscious and then drowned them after moving them to the tub. Neighbors note years of intermittent insanity. She is held without bonds and remanded to East Cambridge jail with the case postponed to December 18.

The Census Bureau reports this year’s cotton crop through December 1 at 8,338,854 bales, down from 10,027,868 a year ago and 8,689,663 in 1905. Gin neries in operation total 26,876, with round bales counted as half bales.
