Mob kills man who shot officer in Charlotte

In Charlotte North Carolina on August 26 Joe MecNeeley a Black man who shot and wounded a police officer last week was taken from jail by a mob guarded by police and executed. A $1000 reward was posted for his attackers and city officials ordered a halt to firearm sales amid fear of race riots.

Mothers and babies visit Castle Island with Boston Elevated

Thirty five mothers and their babies were taken for an outing to City Point yesterday as guests of the Boston Elevated Railway Company. Miss Isabelle R. Portland Inquest Finds Perry Shot Girl Then Self

5000 Mothers Prepare For City Mothers Day Picnic

Tickets allocated and plans finalized for the first mothers day picnic at Franklin Park. Mayor Fitzgerald and the committee expect five thousand mothers and children from city sections. Tickets are distributed via police stations churches charities settlements and other agencies. The city hosts the event to give those who have not had a summer away from the city a day out. The Boston playgrounds demonstration takes place in the afternoon with about two thousand children from fifty two playgrounds led by N J Young, playground director for the school department.

Mayor Fitzgerald Urges Hyde Park Strike Return to Work

After a conference with Governor Foss, Mayor Fitzgerald advised Hyde Park factory strikers to return to work under the old conditions and seek a peaceful settlement later. He told a committee from the Boston Central Labor Union that the governor urged returning workers with no trouble expected in differences.

Mayor urges return to work amid dispute with Governor

The Mayor told the committee he favors workers returning as the Governor proposes and warned that if no adjustment is reached, a public hearing may be sought from the State Board of Conciliation and Arbitration. He has held talks with board members who promised a hearing if talks fail. A mass meeting at French's Opera House, Hyde Park, will relay the Mayor and Governor's recommendations via strike leaders.

Boston Garment Workers Anticipate Large Strike Next Week

A strike of nearly 1000 members from the Boston Cloak and Skirt Makers Union is expected to begin early next week. Pressers and Cutters unions may join in a walkout over alleged violations of last spring’s settlement with manufacturers. Abraham Rosenberg will travel to Boston Friday to handle the issue.
