Heavy Sea Ends Channel Swim by Sullivan

Henry F. Sullivan of Lowell Mass. gave up his English Channel crossing within six miles of the French coast after ten hours in rough seas. He started from South Foreland at 6 45 pm with his father trainer and pilots. Fellow entrant Jabez Wolffe of England also quit after nine hours. Only Matthew Webb and William T Burgess had previously completed the crossing.

Firemen Protest Ruling on Elevated Road Workers

Boston Firemen's Union 243 votes to protest to arbiters Storrow Vahey and Richards against any verdict on firemen engineers and electrical workers of the Elevated Railway.
