Fatal Accident in Hurley: Four Year Old John Garrigan Buried

John Garrigan four years six months old, son of Patrick and Mary Garrigan, was playing in the dock behind his Broad street home during low tide when a 250 pound rock rolled onto him, burying him in mud. Local deaths and incidents reported in Nantasket and area

The body of William L. Pitkeathly, drowned at Nantasket last Wednesday, was recovered Saturday. Annie Smith, 22, of 37 Essex street, was found unconscious Saturday after an opium overdose and is at the city hospital. Bertha Cohen, with three children, wandered streets and was sent to the Cherdon street home. Mary Stoll of 53 Carver street laments lending $150 to three German-looking men to cover freight for soap. the diamonds left as security were fakes. John Robertson, injured on the Old Colony railroad, died Saturday. No autopsy for James J. Mulligan, found fatally injured on a Billerica street doorstep. it appears he fell from a window. The man in the water near Warren bridge is John J. Alvis, identified and confined in South Framingham. he escaped while in the city. Salem’s new jail is not a success due to damp floors and will be abandoned. Stephen A. Casey, 26, of 58 Sheridan avenue Jamaica Plain, was thrown from a wagon in Somerville Sunday, injuring his hip and taken to Massachusetts General Hospital.

Martins in buggy wreck on North Common Street

On Sunday afternoon Martin and his wife drove two trotters down North Common street from Franklin park. Mrs Martins horse veered into Samuel Andersons buggy, wrecking it and throwing Anderson out. Mrs Martins buggy capsized. she was rescued and revived. City Treasurer French secured a loan of 25060 dollars for water pipe work at 34 percent.

John O Senter 50 residing at the Hotel Boylston apartment was found about 5 P M Sunday by the janitor in a severely distressed condition. Dr Bush noted an attempted self destruction by Paris green and he was rushed to the city hospital in critical condition. Senter formerly served on the police force with no cause given for the act.

A man killed on the railroad at Lynn last week was buried unidentified. The thirteenth Peabody family reunion will be held at North Reading on Wednesday.
