Greenough Founder of Noble and Greenough School Dies
James J. Greenough, founder and longtime guiding spirit of the Noble & Greenough School at 100 Boylston Street, Cambridge, died at his home on Elmwood Avenue after about three months of illness. Born September 8, 1861 in Marshall Michigan, he taught at J. P. Hopkinson School after Harvard graduation in 1882 and helped form the Noble & Greenough partnership in 1892. He leaves a widow, a daughter Laura, and two sons James and Charles W, with James a Harvard sophomore and Charles W a Noble & Greenough student.
