McCarthy Alleges Boston and Maine Discrimination in Express Rates
Charles J. McCarthy of Chelsea owner of Day's Dover and Somersworth Express Company filed a federal equity suit against the Boston and Maine railroad. He claims the road grants favored rivals, sets lower rates for others, blocks his messengers from key trains, and denies him office facilities, seeking injunctions and equal treatment. He bought Day's Express last September and already has three state suits for $25,000 each. Noble and Daer and Cutler and James serve as his counsel.
