Commission urged to study Southern Union Station plan
Boston officials and property owners pressed for a five member commission to investigate the proposed Southern Union Station. Critics argued the site is unsafe, poorly located in a fading wholesale district, and would disrupt traffic on Congress Street. Several witnesses urged hearings, expert testimony, and a report to the General Court, while others warned commissions may delay or sink the project. The hearing continued next Monday as lawmakers debated terminal provisions for the New England railroad and leases affecting Milford lines.
