Fire Ravages Brunswick Plant District Losing Farmland Goods

A Brunswick fire destroying a Plant system dock warehouse and related facilities capsized a large wave of losses in Savannah Ga. April 2. The blaze killed Night Watchman Smith and injured one man, with multiple buildings and thousands of barrels of resin and turpentine incinerated. Firefighters battled the blaze as crews from Waycross Savannah and Jacksonville aided. The fire left Brunswick dark with no lights and prompted full mobilization of guards and volunteers.

Stormy meeting over Rev Franklin at St Pauls Baptist Church

The St Pauls Baptist Church in question held a contentious meeting to decide whether Rev B A Franklin should remain pastor. Self defense claim in Cook shooting trial in Providence

Editor Lin Fine testified he shot Osceola R. Cook in self defense after fearing injury while attempting to escape. He said Cook brandished a white object above his head. several witnesses supported his account. The trial adjourned with the case unfinished.

Fire destroys $50,000 in Oriskany Falls store

Fire swept through H. W. Stewart's store in Oriskany Falls this morning, burning about $50,000 in property. The blaze claimed W. H. Fowler Jr., J. C. Cross, Hatheway Reynolds and P Chesebro & Co. stock across multiple blocks. Insurance figures were not yet available, and the village now has no remaining stores.

The barge Imperial from Boston went ashore near Cedar Creek station New Jersey last night. Crew were saved in breeches buoys as the vessel broke to pieces offshore.
