Potatoes as rooting medium for plant cuttings
When making cuttings of favorite plants, use potatoes as the rooting medium. Cut the eyes from the potatoes so they will not sprout, then insert the stem of the cutting into the potato and plant. The potato's sugars and starches hasten rooting, effective on soft stemmed plants.
