Charles Foley 17 of Ross Road Kennebunk was killed at 1 08 am when his station wagon left Route 35 on the shoulder for 495 feet and struck a tree. Investigating officer Arnold Pike said the car narrowly missed another vehicle carrying three teens seconds earlier. Police blamed excessive speed.
Two York County jail escapees were captured in Weathersfield Connecticut this morning. Claude Binette 21 and Joseph Vitale 20 both of Hartford were remanded to August 5 after being handed over to the September term at York County Superior Court on charges of breaking and entering with intent to commit larceny at the Saco Valley Shopping Center.
First National Bank of Biddeford and Bank and Mayne Realty and Loan Co. announce a lease for Jack's Spa building at 220 226 Main St adjacent to the bank parking lot. After the Jack's Spa lease ends around July 1 1969 the building will be razed and the lot graded filled and paved to double bank parking.
Sen Ed Muskie and his wife arrived for a press conference at Webhannet Country Club in Kennebunk Beach with Mrs Lawrence Butler friend of the Muskies. Muskie said he believes George Wallace's third party candidacy will be a campaign factor though more harmful to Republicans than Democrats.
