ABC to Replace The Reasoner Report With New Weekend Newscast
ABC will end The Reasoner Report after a February 1973 start and replace it with a regular half hour Saturday night newscast. Harry Reasoner questions Sunday night timing but foresees another weekly magazine program later. Stations preferred local programming, hurting the show’s time slot and clearances. A Country Called Watts airs on NBC that Sunday, while a new nature trail opens at Scarborough Marsh Nature Center with free open-house events led by Dick Anderson and Bob Steele.
