Mrs. Evert Johnson formerly Wilma Holappa died suddenly at 4 Sunday at her home 206 South Sophie street from a cerebral hemorrhage. Born October 5 1909 in Ironwood she moved to Highbridge Wisconsin as a child and later lived in Ironwood before moving to Ramsay. She worked at Grand View hospital before marrying Evert Johnson April 18 1936. Survived by husband son David seven sisters Mrs William Johnson Mrs Erwin Block Mrs Arnold Mattson all of Ramsay Mrs H B Gwin Wichita Kansas Mrs William Nosek Detroit and brother John Holappa Superior.

The infant son Howard LeRoy Lindstrom of Mr and Mrs Howard Lindstrom of North Bessemer died Monday at St Marys hospital in Duluth after a sudden illness. Born October 4 1946 he is survived by his parents and one brother Ernest. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 from the C W Moore funeral home with Rev R I Larsen officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest cemetery.

Mrs Wil liam C Markstrum 61 a former Bessemer resident died Wednesday evening at St Marys hospital in Wausau from complications of a heart ailment. Born in Bessemer February 4 1887 she moved to Wausau with her husband in 1911 and lived there since. Surviving are her husband two sons Daniel and William Jr and one grandchild all of Wausau. Also three brothers Charles Louis Bernard and three sisters Mrs Frank Kosmicki Mrs Frank Probelski and Mrs A W Kerkes. Funeral arrangements pending burial will be in Hillcrest cemetery Bessemer.

Eastern Star initiates candidates at Dorcas Chapter ceremony

The Department of Conservation reports on hand at Watersmeet and Marquette hatcheries 275 000 brook trout 150 000 brown trout 230 000 rainbow trout in advanced fry stage and 12 000 brook trout near legal size in outside ponds. Marquette feeds 75 000 brook trout fingerlings 23 000 sub legal brook trout 30 000 legal size brook trout. 400 000 lake trout fry in troughs. Last season 237 000 legal trout were planted in U P waters. this season up to 300 000 may be handled with added equipment. New vehicles and extra planting tanks are on order to improve distribution of legal trout. All legal trout planted in 1948 will be marked by adipose fin removal to aid anglers in counting hatchery stock. A new fertilization method may boost yields. Also note an apron and bake sale at Johnson Hardware Saturday.

Bessemer Pioneer John Zeliska Dies at 74
John Zeliska, 74, a long time Bessemer resident, died Sunday morning after a two year illness. Born in Austria Hungary on March 11 1874 he came to Bessemer in 1898 and worked in mines until retirement at 65. He owned a North Bessemer farm for 27 years and was married May 9 1902 to Mary Majick. Survived by 12 children 22 grandchildren and one great grandchild, including daughters Mrs Doucette Mrs Downey and Mrs Schwenk and sons John Michael Edward and Donald. Also survived by a sister Mrs Bertha Lascady. One sister and a brother in Austria have not been heard from since before the war.
