Iron River Bank Dividend Shocks Stockholders
An extra 1.8 per share dividend was issued to old First National bank stockholders after collecting a difficult old account. Depositors received full deposit refunds at the bank’s closing. Mrs. Paulina Hoeft, 74, longtime Bessemer resident, died of a heart condition at her East Iron Street home after a long illness. Born in Germany May 3, 1873, she immigrated at 14 and helped develop Trinity Lutheran Church, remaining its oldest active member. She married Julius Hoeft in 1890. he died in 1921. Surviving are nine children, many grandchildren, and a sister and brother in Wisconsin, with services held at home and Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment in Hillcrest Cemetery followed.

Wilner Torell a Bes semer business man died at Grand View hospital Friday afternoon after being shot in the chest in the basement of Torell's Cafe Thursday evening. He was 41 and had been a local baker and civic leader. funeral held at Frick Funeral Home with burial at Hillcrest.
