Other contests saw William Harris renominated for clerk on the Citizens ticket, Dominic Puccio defeated for highway overseer, and Joe Lucca winning the highway commissioner Citizens race.

At a Bessemer Business Men's Association meeting plans were proposed to link Michigan's 100th state anniversary with local events. State Representative Michael A. Townsite mine cited for 7A violation in Ironwood
A Washington dispatch reports the Townsite mine in Ironwood was cited by the National Labor Relations Board for violation of section 7A of the NRA. It appears to be the first labor ruling affecting the Upper Peninsula. Congressman Frank E. Hook of Ironwood filed a 32 signers complaint alleging extended work hours after 38 miners were discharged on November 14, 1934. The board ordered reinstatement and gave the company 10 days to appeal. Townsite is owned by Republic Steel with Duluth manager J. E. Nelson saying the firm will appeal.

Muskovitz Found Guilty Of Charge
Peter Muskovitz a 26 year old of Bessemer township was convicted in circuit court of assault and battery and intent to rob. The verdict followed the Jan 31 incident near the First and Last building when Sam Seeley a 66 year old lumber camp blacksmith was assaulted and robbed. Muskovitz was sentenced to one to 15 years in Marquette prison with 2 years recommended. A motion for a new trial was considered.

Stephen McInnis, brother of Mrs Archie Chisholm of this city, died Sunday morning at his Duluth home. A 50 year old employee of the Duluth Winnipeg and Pacific railroad for 25 years, he leaves five sisters. Mrs Chisholm went to Duluth for the funeral held Wednesday afternoon.

Leo O Massie a Bessemer high school instructor lost the Republican nomination for county school commissioner in Monday’s primary to Blanch Watson the Ironwood incumbent. Watson led county by 1223 votes carrying Ironwood city 9 to 1 and won all wards except in Massie’s hometown where he carried four wards. Watson will face Democrat William Carter in April 1 election.

Mrs. Betty Louise Peterson 75, a Ramsay resident for 30 years, died at her daughter Signe Strom’s home after Bright’s disease and age related complications. Born December 17, 1860 in Finland, she immigrated in 1898, lived in Bessemer then Ramsay. Survived by daughters Carl Lundin and Signe Strom, one stepdaughter Hulda Johnson, sister Erick Mortenson, five grandchildren. Funeral planned Saturday at Sharon Lutheran, burial Hillcrest. Carl Lundin and others from Detroit to attend.
