Fourth of July Plans For Ramsay Parade And Flyover
Ramsay plans its annual Fourth of July celebration with a 10 30 a m parade featuring Wakefield High School Band in new uniforms directed by Mrs Phyllis Schlecht and the Bessemer Township Band led by Carl Nelson. The parade runs along the usual upper street line ending near Kine say School yard, with a possible jet flyover from K I Sawyer Air Base. Afterward free ice cream at 11 30 a m and a noon picnic at Bessemer Township Memorial Park. Three F101 jets from the 62nd Fighter Squadron ADC at K I Sawyer will fly over at 7 p m to climax the day.

Kravetz dies in Duluth at 43 after hospital work
Andrew Louis Kravetz 43 of 411 E Longyear St died early Wednesday at St Luke's Hospital Duluth. Born Oct 26 1923 in Alpha Michigan he served in WWII and trained as nurse anesthesiologist. He worked as chief anesthetist at Grand View Hospital until his death. Funeral at St Sebastian Bessemmer. Gail Govednik named to MSU dean list.

St Sebastian's Church hosts an annual picnic on Sunday with a noon to 3 pm dinner featuring barbecued chicken potato salad cole slaw baked beans sauerkraut and pork. Adults pay 1.50 children 0.75. Afternoon and evening games and picnics offered. if weather turns bad activities move to the parish hall.

Mrs O Koivunen dies Saturday in Angeles California. She leaves 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was survived by her husband and parents and was preceded in death by son John Edward killed in action in Luxembourg on November 20 1944 and by brothers Ludwig in 1958 and John in 1961.

Soldier Wins Army Commendation in Saigon Ceremony
Specialist Four Edward G. Strahs Jr., 23, of Bessemer Michigan, received the Army Commendation Medal in Saigon on June 2. Brig. Gen. Robert L. Ashworth presented the award for meritorious service from June 1966 to June 1967 while Strahs served as an administrative specialist in the Directorate of Security Plans and Operations. He entered the Army in July 1965 and last stationed at Ft. Rucker Alabama. He graduated from A. D. Johnston High School in 1962 and earned an associate degree in 1965 from Badger Business College.
