Raymond Skwor Appointed Street Commissioner
At the Monday city council meeting Mayor Elmer Sandin appointed Raymond Skwor as street commissioner. The council approved the appointment and he will earn 315 dollars monthly with a raise after a three month probation. He succeeds Adam Modjewski, who remains with the street department as a truck driver. The council also approved the summer base construction and oil sealer program for multiple street projects and anticipated oil sealer work starting Saturday if weather permits.

Mrs Helena Jacobson Succumbs At Home
Mrs Helena Jacobson 93 died Thursday at 11 a m at her Anvil home. Born Helena Koskin in Finland in 1864 she came to the United States in 1889 settling in Bessemer where she married Jack Williamson in 1892. He died in 1903 and in 1907 she wed Andrew Jacobson. he died in 1923. She is survived by a Portland Oregon daughter Mrs Thomas Campbell two Anvil stepchildren Mrs Peter Chiapuzio and Victor Jacobson two granddaughters and two great granddaughters. She belonged to St Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church. Funeral Monday at 2 p m at St Pauls Lutheran Church Rev Oliver Hallberg officiating burial Hillcrest Cemetery.

Funeral services for Hugo Stone aged 64 were held last Thursday at 2 p m. at J J Fricks Funeral Home with Rev Keith Morey of the Seventh Day Adventist Church officiating. Burial followed in Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Chovan Mike Zeckovich Fay Horswill John Newman John Carlson and Steve Passini. Relatives and friends from Bessemer Ramsay and nearby range communities attended. Mrs Stella Prucco plans to visit Milwaukee relatives next Tuesday.
