NMU Announces Largest Graduating Class in History
Northern Michigan University will confer 3 master of arts and 46 baccalaureate degrees at its 67th annual commencement on Sunday June 4. The VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries organize a block fund drive on June 2 and 3 to support Bessemer’s Fourth of July celebration. The committee will solicit donations from local businesses and coordinate events including a 6 A.M salute, 9 A.M children’s races with free ice cream, a 1 P.M children’s parade, and a 7 P.M grand parade with demonstrations and fireworks at Massie Field. Mrs. Albert Taraboi 51 of 405 1st Ave Hurley born May 17 1916 in Wakefield died Thursday after months of illness. Mrs. Cecelia Miljevich, school nurse, informs parents that Gogebic County Health Department now runs pre school clinics in Ironwood Memorial Building with monthly sessions. Immunization rules require DTP, polio, measles, smallpox, tuberculosis test before 1967-68 enrollment, including boosters for diphtheria whooping cough tetanus polio and smallpox for returning and new Michigan students.
