Ferris Institute Becomes Michigan State Vocational Center
Ferris Institute at Big Rapids will be designated a state vocational training center on July 1 1950. The 66 year old school founded by Woodbridge N Ferris began in 1884 as the Big Rapids Industrial School and has trained over 75 000 men and women in trades and professions. President Byron Brophy cites a proud tradition and plans to continue expanding practical education for high school graduates and non college bound youths.
