Wage scale set for CWA road workers in Upper Peninsula
About 100 CWA representatives gathered in Marquette to hear Louis W. Nims outline Michigan wage rules for CWA road projects. The northern zone sets 50 cents an hour for common labor and 1.20 dollars for skilled work, with Michigan adherence to state highway rates for local common labor. The talk clarified that highly skilled labor, not carpenters or painters, qualifies for the 1.20 rate, and stressed CWA goals of full employment and project efficiency within 60 days. Attendees from Gogebic county included W. H. McNamara, Harry T. Culver, George W. Korouski, J. G. Rowell, and John Gilbert.
