George Toivonen age 28 was found guilty of manslaughter for fatally beating his stepbrother Gust Niemi on August 16 after a drunken brawl. Jack Spur was found guilty of assault with an axe on Nov. 15 maiming Elmer Howatt. Gust Pikka 22 of Wakefield was found guilty of stealing $3 and clothing from Stanley Stilski and Felix Pobr owski on Oct. 2. Sven Engstrom previously convicted of robbery was sentenced to 1 to 15 years. Nine others pleaded guilty and were sentenced or placed on probation.

Lake Superior iron ore shipments for November totaled about 708000 gross tons, lifting the 1933 season to roughly 21,550,083 tons. A woodsman about 40 to 45 was killed when struck by a Northwestern freight train one mile east of Green Siding near Watersmeet on Wednesday night.
