Mrs Springhetti Dies In Chicago After 64 Years In Bessemer
Mrs. Nicholas Springhetti 85 died Sunday at her son in law and daughter's Chicago home after a period of ill health. Born October 7 1865 in Austrian Tyrol she came to Bessemer 64 years ago and remained active in St Sebastian church and local affairs. She married Nicholas Springhetti in 1888 and survived by four sons four daughters 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Burial was at Hillcrest cemetery after services at St Sebastian church conducted by Rev C J Swoboda.

At a meeting of the Harding Extension club last Thursday evening plans were made to join the Aid to the Infirmary project. A $10 appropriation was set to purchase materials for the gift packages. New officers included Reino Salonen as chairwoman, Blanche Kivi as secretary-treasurer, Ruth Mattson as publicity, Edith Erickson and Martha Pumula as project leaders, Helia Suomi as executive board member, with refreshments served by Thyra Korpi and Florence Kangas.

Bessember Chamber Elects New Board for 1951
At a Bes Semer Chamber of Commerce meeting in the Veterans Memorial building on the previous night, five new directors were elected for a two year term: Larry Martin John Turkal Louis Perotti Joe Abelman and Don Strelcheck. They replace Dante Pricco Joe Martell John Novascone Louis Filippini and Louis Calligaro whose terms ended. The new board also includes Paul Steiger Joseph Gastino E J Oas Rudolph Honz John Dimperio and the five new directors. They will select a president vice president secretary and treasurer for 1951. Dues for 1951 are set at 2 per month for all business and professional men, with associate memberships at 5 per year. Dues are payable to John Dimperio, chamber treasurer.

Former Resident Dies In Negaunee
Word was received of the death of Eward Saily 55 who died Saturday morning in Negaunee. A former Bessemer resident he was an underground foreman at the Ironton mine and moved to Negaunee about ten years ago. He had been ill a year. Survived by his wife and two brothers. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Negaunee with interment there.

Santa Claus to Arrive Saturday in Bessemer
The Bessemer Chamber of Commerce lined up a 2 p.m. Saturday visit for Santa Claus. Kindergarten through sixth grade children receive free candy tickets, with recipients from Washington Barber and St Sebastian schools. John Dimperio chairs candy distribution, aided by Dante Pricco Joe Martell and Larry Martin. Sophie Street is decorated with lights and evergreen roping as Santa is greeted at the north city limits and driven into town by jeep.

Mrs Earl Haberman Injured In Appleton Auto Crash
Mrs Earl Haberman was injured in a Sunday evening car crash near Appleton Wisconsin. Her daughter Mrs Lucille Smith was summoned to her side as she underwent treatments including a fractured leg and pelvis and facial injuries requiring plastic surgery. Her condition was reported as good. The Bessemer post office will stay open all day Saturday to handle package shipments.
