Paul Stefanik Dies Monday in Anvil Home
Paul Stefanik Sr. 79 longtime Anvil resident died Monday afternoon at his home after years of ill health. Born April 1 1871 in Klenovec Czechoslovakia he came to the U S in 1901. He worked in steel mills and mines before retiring in 1938 and living at home. He is survived by his widow two sons Paul Jr and John three daughters Mrs Steve Fedor Julia and Mary. Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev Walter Leininger officiating. Burial in Hillcrest cemetery.

John Victor Erickson 77 died Sunday at his sister Marie Englund’s home where he had lived for years. A Bessemer resident since 1902, he worked in mines and carpentry. He is survived by his sister, a niece in Pontiac, a nephew in Kalamazoo, two grandnieces in Ironwood and Hurley. Pallbearers listed.

Bernard C Holdorf 64 died Thursday at a Veterans hospital in Sautelle California after a year of hospitalizations He was a World War I veteran and former Bessemer resident born in Neenah Wisconsin October 29 1886 He studied at Michigan College of Mining and Technology earning an B M and BS He worked in mining engineering in Montreal and Miami later serving as a city engineer in Los Angeles before retiring due to ill health He received the Croix de Guerre for bravery at Chateau Thierry He was a member of the American Legion and active in Los Angeles civic groups.

Council Grants Green Light to Bessemer Recreation Project
At a regular meeting the Bessemer city council designated the first and second bluffs as a public playground to be run by the city. The council empowered Mayor Shaw Alderman Clarence Hoeft and Paul Brach to accept donations for the recreation project and suggested forming a park board to administer it.

Puritan PTA Enjoys Musical Program
The Puritan Parent-Teacher Association held a regular session on Wednesday evening featuring a program of musical numbers. The evening included a piano duet by Marilyn DeStasio and Marie Stef anik and a piano solo by Donald Geor gie, with accordion pieces by James and Richard Chernak. The PTA choir and band showcased a large lineup of instrumentalists across trumpets, clarinets, saxophones, horns, trombones, baritones, tubas, and drums. Lunch was served by several volunteers. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Jasper and Mr. and Mrs. G N Eade announced plans to move to Aurora Minnesota.

Former Alderman Dies Friday Night in Bessemer
Nick Glatczak 84 pioneer settler of Bessemer died Friday night at 7:30 at his son in law Everett Westeen’s home after years of ill health. Born in Posnia Poland July 26 1866 he came to America in 1885 and worked on railroad construction before rising to maintenance foreman for Chicago North Western Railway. A former alderman from the third ward he served 12 years. Surviving are two sons six daughters 22 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements announced with transportation by Bussett.
